Botox And Fillers Specialist

Easton Dermatology Associates

Dermatologists located in Easton, MD & Salisbury, MD

Most people notice the first signs of aging starting in their mid-to-late 30s. Even though wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin, and deflated cheeks are all part of the natural aging process, cosmetic injectables can help you turn back the hands of time. At Easton Dermatology Associates in Easton, Maryland, the experienced team of dermatologists offer Botox® and dermal fillers to help patients on the Delmarva Peninsula look more youthful and feel their best.

Botox and Fillers Q & A

What is Botox?

Botulinum toxin (Type A), also known as Botox, is a natural, purified protein that relaxes your facial muscles to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines. Small doses of the protein are injected through tiny needles at specific points in your facial anatomy to smooth the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, the kind that are caused by your everyday facial expressions.

Botox works by blocking the nerve signal that causes your facial muscles to contract, leaving your skin looking smoother and younger. As one of the most effective cosmetic tools for long-term wrinkle reduction, Botox is often used for:

  • Angry 11s, or the two small furrows between your eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet, or the tiny smile lines at the corners of your eyes
  • Worry lines, or the deep horizontal furrows in your brow
  • Marionette lines, or the lines that extend down from the corners of your mouth

The team at Easton Dermatology Associates uses XEOMIN®, the most purified form of Botox available.

What are dermal fillers?

Fillers, also known as dermal fillers or soft tissue fillers, are minimally-invasive injectable cosmetic products that help rejuvenate facial skin and add facial volume. They’re designed to address facial deflation, or the age-related breakdown of facial muscles that you use to express yourself, chew, squint, and talk. Facial deflation, which starts at about the age of 30 and progresses with time, is what’s responsible for the flattened cheeks, thinning lips, and narrowing temples that are more common in middle age.

Dermal fillers can temporarily help smooth wrinkles and reverse age-related facial deflation. They can be used to take care of deep lines around your eyes, brow, or mouth, change the contour of your jawline, flesh out your cheeks, or subtly enhance your lips. Fillers are also useful for taking care of minor scars and depressions.

The team at Easton Dermatology Associates uses Restylane® filler products, which are specially formulated with hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance that gives your skin its fullness and elasticity.

How long will my results last?

Botox and fillers are among the most commonly-performed aesthetic procedures because they deliver immediate results, carry very few risks or side effects, and require little to no recovery time. Both treatments are somewhat temporary, however, which means that you’ll have to receive further treatments to maintain your results. Botox treatments usually last for 3-6 months, while dermal filler treatments may last up to a year. As with any cosmetic treatment, results vary from person to person.
